Here we go.... fun in the sierra's!

Trail Boss: Eye4Mud (Robert)

Dates: June28th - July 4th 2010
Where: Shaver Lake Area (Sierra National Forest)
What: ALl the trails we can handle
Trail Ratings : 2-5

Camp Location: TBD

Vehicle Requirments: A stock rubicon "like" vehicle should have no problem on most fo the trails, we recommend 33" tires and at least 1 locker for most of the trails and of course recovery gear, and that sor of thing. Bring spare parts and tools because we are not close to a big parts store although there is a napa in shaver.

Weather: Will post more info when we get closer... expect warm during the day and comfortable at night... it is not uncommon to get rained on or snowed on up there even in the middle of summer so please be prepared.

Who wants to go??

I will probably be able to come up for the weekend, but due to training requirements for my company, I won't be able to make it up during the week. Monday the 5th will be a holiday though.

We are doing something for July 4th, just not sure what yet.
May have to talk the wife into a run to Shaver for the weekend.

We just did Bald this past weekend, and took the first right up the trail. Lots of snow in the trees.
We did a little strapping and winching after we put a rig into a tree nose first.
This drift was about 8 feet tall.

Here is a link to some of the pictures.

This trip may be a limited trip, we also went up on sunday for the day, drove rock creek from tamarack, up old brewer trail then down rock creek to bald and did the whole loop.... no trouble, did encounter many snow drifts, several that were up to 8 feet tall.

I am thinking I am going to reduce this trip to wed through friday with day and night runs to bald, we will camp down near dinkey creek in our favorite place.

Dave G will be there all week.

We are still doing this, please let me know if you are coming.

Dave will be there from this Sunday through next Sunday, I will be there Wed morning through Fri or sat.

We will be camping on Tamarack ridge... Take HWY 168 past shaver lake, turn right into the tamarack snowpark, follow road through the parking lot we should be camped on right hand side about 1/4 in or less.

We will have ham radio 146.520 and CB channel 7 on in case you cant find us. Cell service is very limited there.

Unfortunately, due to a death in the family (Step-Grandfather), I'll be on my way to Montana instead.

Have fun and be safe everyone.
